Don’t let the cost of care stop you from being seen if you or someone you know need urgent medical attention now.

Will I Be Treated for My Urgent Medical Issue Without Insurance?

Yes, medical insurance, or lack thereof, does not dictate your care plan when visiting an urgent care facility.

Our main goal is to get you feeling better as quickly as possible no matter what medical concern you’re faced with. Don’t delay treatment.

How Much Does Urgent Care Cost?

The cost of urgent care depends on various factors, including diagnosis, treatment, and the short- and long-term care required.

When examining medical costs without insurance coverage, there are three main factors to consider:

1. Test and x-rays were performed

If you require an x-ray, blood test, viral test, EKG, or any other specialty test or imaging to confirm your diagnosis, the cost will be your responsibility. However, it is essential to note that these services will be much less expensive than going to a hospital emergency room.

2. Medications and injections were provided

If you do not have medical insurance, the total cost of medications and injections provided will be your responsibility. Therefore, it is always best to inform the provider that you do not have insurance when being seen. This way, you’ll be prescribed generic medication at a lower cost.

3. Cast and splints were given for short- or long-term use

If you’ve sprained or broken a bone, a cast or splint may be required for proper healing and protection until you can see your primary care provider or orthopedic surgeon. The person receiving casting treatment for the affected bone(s) is responsible for the cost of treating the bones.

Does Urgent Care Bill You Later Without Insurance?

The short answer is no, payment is expected at the time of service.

Payment for the visit is taken at check in and any additional services required, like stiches or X-rays are paid on completion of your visit.

Each patient’s case is unique, so no one cost fits all patients.

Should I Go to the Emergency Room Instead?

The option to seek medical care at an emergency room instead of an urgent care facility is entirely up to you.

Generally speaking, if you have an injury or illness that requires same-day medical treatment and is not considered “life-threatening,” urgent care is most likely a better choice.

It is best to visit an urgent care facility over an emergency room for

  • Colds, flu, or fever
  • Ear infections
  • Bladder infections
  • Cuts, bruises, or burns
  • Strains, sprains, or fractures

Emergency services are recommended for

  • Sudden or severe pain
  • Uncontrolled bleeding
  • Chest pain
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Coughing or vomiting blood
  • Confusion
  • Loss of consciousness

Emergency rooms should be reserved for severe or life-threatening medical conditions that need immediate attention.

If you or a loved one is experiencing a medical emergency requiring immediate attention, call 9-1-1.
